COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- One person was killed in a hit-and-run on Interstate 95 in Colleton County, according to Highway Patrol officials.
Officials say the incident happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 45 around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. Two vehicles collided, which caused one to go off the side of the road, down an embankment and into trees.
The driver who died in the wreck was wearing a seatbelt, officials said.
Troopers have no details on the second vehicle. They are still investigating the incident.
The coroner has not released the name of the victim.
