COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Twelve people have been ticketed outside the Statehouse while protesting South Carolina's decision not to accept federal money to expand Medicaid.
This marked the second week in a row that protesters have blocked the garage leading in Columbia's Statehouse for their Truthful Tuesday demonstration.
This week, the protesters briefly stepped into a road and were asked by Columbia police officers to walk over to a set of steps to be written tickets. Unlike last week, they were not handcuffed and were ticketed at the scene for disorderly conduct.
The demonstration lasted less than 15 seconds. Protesters who were ticketed are expected in court on March 28.
