Power restored to most of downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Nearly 1,500 SCE&G customers went without power in downtown Charleston for several hoursafter a pair of incidents disrupted service.All but a handful of customers were without power late Monday night.

Officials with the utility said a tree fell onto a line and knocked out power to one area. In another area of the city, equipment failure disrupted service.

The affected area stretched from Barre Street on the west to parts of Meeting Street on the east and runs Broad and Calhoun streets.
