JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) - Three men forced their wayinside a Johns Island woman's home early Saturdaymorning, held two people hostage and fired several shots into the ceilingbefore running from the home, deputies said.
However, two of the men CharlestonCounty deputies believe to have beeninvolved in the robbery were detained shortly after the incident by Charleston policeofficers.
Lataj Maxwell, 28, and Anthony Heyward Jr., 19, were arrestedafter one of the victims identified them as two of the men who broke into herhome. Maxwell and Heyward were charged with first-degree burglary, kidnapping, armedrobbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
The third suspect is still unidentified.
According to the incident report, the robbers, who were onlyidentified as three black men, forced their way in through a locked back doorof a Mary Ann Point Roadhome.
Once inside, one of the men held a hand gun to one of thevictim's heads and asked her where she kept her money and cards, the reportstated.
The 49-year-old grandmother told the robber she did not haveany money, the report stated.
According to deputies, while one of the robbers held thewoman and her grandson at gunpoint, the other two men ransacked the home.
As the three men left, two other family members of thevictims walked into the home. The armed man turned and fired shots into theceiling and ordered the family to the floor, deputies reported.
According to the report, the grandmother said all three menwere armed.
