2 die when SUV hits moped near Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - The Highway Patrol is investigating after a sports utility vehicle hit a moped, killing its two riders near Orangeburg.

The crash happened early Monday afternoon along U.S. 301, about four miles south of town.

Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said the moped was attempting to cross the highway when it was hit.

The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office identifies the victims as 46-year-old Sandra Hutto and 41-year-old Ronald Baxley, both of Orangeburg.

The woman driving the SUV was hospitalized.
