2 dogs killed with a crossbow in Union County
CROSS KEYS, S.C. (AP) - Deputies say someone used a crossbow to shoot and kill two dogs inside the fence of a Union County home.
Sheriff David Taylor said the person who shot the Great Danes early Saturday had to trespass on the man's Cross Keys land to get close enough to shoot the dogs. He says his deputies will investigate the case thoroughly.
Jerry Burnett says the person who shot his dogs needs to pay dearly for the heartbreak and suffering he caused.
Taylor says he is concerned about a rise in animal cruelly cases in Union County.
Last month, a dog was shot to death in Jonesville. In July, deputies think someone killed two dogs by poisoning them with antifreeze. And in June, deputies charged someone who dragged a pony behind a truck.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
