2 Folly beach officers suspended following after hours pier incident
FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) -- Two Folly beach Public Safety officers were suspended for three days after jumping over the pier gate.
According to Director Dennis Brown, the two officers climbed over the gate in their off-duty hours during the night of June 29.
The officers, identified as Josh Allen and Ben O'Brien, were suspended for three days without pay, officials said. Both officers have been with the department for about a year, officials said.
"I believe this to be an unfortunate and disappointing occurrence," said Brown. "It has been investigated and the officers involved have been disciplined."
Public Safety officials are still investigating the incident.
Brown did not say why the two men decided to jump over the gate at the fishing pier.
