GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCIV) -- Two people were arrested and charged with crimes after deputies in Georgetown County investigated possible sex abuse involving a minor.
According to deputies, 32-year-old Leopold Esteban-Rodriguez and 25-year-old Jennifer Smith were arrested as a result of the investigation. Rodriguez was charged with four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Smith was charged with unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person.
Deputies said they were called in by the child's father and told to investigate Rodriguez, who allegedly had sex with a child victim.
Smith is being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. Rodriguez was denied bond.
