CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Two more sea turtles are being released following their rehabilitation at the sea turtle hospital at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston.
The aquarium said in a release that one of the turtles being released Wednesday is Bay, a 11-pound Kemp's ridley sea turtle accidently caught by a fisherman at the pier at Edisto Beach State Park back in June. The turtle is being released after having the hook it swallowed surgically removed.
The other turtle is Mitchell, a 65-pound juvenile loggerhead sea turtle. He was found on Hilton Head Island in May entangled in a fishing line, malnourished and covered in barnacles.
The turtles are being released at the Isle of Palms County Park.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
