2012 bridge run already breaking records

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - The Cooper River Bridge Run is still nearly 2 months away, but this year's run is already one for the record books.

Organizers say 30,000 people have already registered and that number is a 140% increase from last year.

"This time last year we had about 12,000. Our cutoff is 43,000 and that's for the $40 registration bibs. After that we have 150 charity bibs and that's the only way you'll be able to get in the race after that point," said Joanna Jackson, Assistant Director for the Cooper River Bridge Run.

If you need to have your race packet mailed to you, the deadline to register is February 23rd.

The 2012 Cooper River Bridge Run is scheduled for March 31st.
