      2013 Heart Walk season is underway

      CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - It's the number one killer of all Americans. {}One out of every four deaths in the United States is because of heart disease. {}That's a statistic the American Heart Association is trying to change. {}On Tuesday the Lowcountry chapter kicked off this year's Heart Walk season with a luncheon at Outback Steakhouse. {}For the next two months sponsors will recruit volunteers and businesses to take part in the walk for a cure.{}"It's important that all of us pull together and companies sign up for the Heart Walk," said SC Ports Authority spokeswoman Allison Skipper. {}"We need volunteers to raise important dollars to go towards heart disease research."The Heart Walk will take place on September 28, at 9 a.m. {}Organizers have set the fundraising goal at $775,000. {}For more information and to donate click here.{}
