2nd Sunday remembers 9/11

Lowcountry Leisure: By Ashley Lindquist

It's time again for 2nd Sunday on King Street, but this month's popular stroll will wrap up with a special event in the heart of downtown Charleston.

In remembrance of September 11, 2001, the City of Charleston is hosting a 10-year anniversary commemeration concert. Grab a spot in Marion Square with your blankets and chairs and enjoy the patriotic tunes of the Charleston Community Band, Charleston Men's Chorus, Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus, College of Charleston and The Citadel.

The free concert runs from 5 - 6:30 p.m., and parking is available at the Gaillard Parking garage on Calhoun.

The event is in partnership with Operation R&R, a non-profit providing service men and women an opportunity to reconnect with their families on a vacation when they return home from deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Don't miss this opportunity to join others in the Lowcountry to honor and remember our first responders, military service men and women and those who perished in the tragic events on September 11, 2001.
