YORK, S.C. (AP) - Authorities at the York County Detention Center say there were three assaults by inmates on other inmates in the span of one day.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/1jZWCMW) a woman assaulted another inmate without provocation after complaining about being sent to lockdown. Court records say she is charged with third-degree assault and battery.
In a second incident on Wednesday, officers separated two inmates after one beat the other in the face as they argued. Authorities say the suspect is already facing an attempted murder charge.
Also, a man jailed on a DUI charge caused a disturbance when he demanded a cellphone. Another inmate told him to be quiet as he tried to sleep, and the DUI suspect was hit in the mouth after kicking water on the inmate.
