      3 inmates accused of complicated Georgetown bank robbery plot

      GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCIV) - Three Georgetown County inmatesspent their time in the jail planning a bank robbery that included aschool-based diversion only to be foiled Wednesday by deputies and detentioncenter officers.

      According to officials, the three men - identified as RyanBonneau, Willie Edwards and Michael Hart -were all serving time on unrelatedcharges in the Georgetown County Detention Center when investigators uncovereda plot to rob a bank.

      Officials said the three were planning a diversion at nearbyWaccamaw Elementary School's sports fields to lure the deputies there and awayfrom the rest of town so the three inmates could rob the Wells Fargo bank inLitchfield without the threat of arrest. Officials did not say what diversionwas planned.

      However, investigators foiled the alleged plan before itever really got off the ground.

      Investigators figured out Bonneau, Edwards and Hart workedtogether to plan the crime without the help of anyone outside the jail,deputies said. Now the three men have each been charged with one count ofcriminal conspiracy.

      The school district and the sheriff's office worked togetherthe make sure no students or staff members at the school were in danger, thesheriff's office said.
