60-year-old charged with felony DUI in Tuesday I-26 crash

      CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A woman is dead after a Tuesday afternoon crash on I-26 and a 60-year-old man has been charged with felony DUI.

      According to officials with the Charleston Police Department, Samuel Thompson, Jr. of Moncks Corner was driving under the influence when he lost control of his vehicle near the Rutledge Avenue exit.

      Margaret Deas, 78, of Charleston died of internal injuries at MUSC on Tuesday evening. She and Thompson were both taken to MUSC after the crash.

      Eastbound traffic on I-26 was backed up for several hours on Tuesday.
