Additional charges filed in case of 2 murdered girls
BERKELEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has filed additional charges against the two suspects already charged with murder in the deaths of Dana Woods & June Guerry.According to BCSO spokesperson Dan Moon, Ray Chavis has been charged with one count of armed robbery and two counts of possession a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.Caleb Matlock has also been charged with one count of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime as well as arson 3rd degree.
The two men, Arthur Chavis and Caleb Matlock were arrested and charged with shooting June Guerry and Dana Woods and leaving their bodies in separate locations of the Francis Marion Forest.
Investigators say the two men are cousins and were acquaintances with Guerry and Woods.
Both men were originally charged with two counts of murder. Court documents shows a witness told detectives that one of the suspects admitted to killing the girls with a 9 mm handgun. The affidavit also says both men told detectives they had been involved in Guerry and Woods' deaths.
