SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- State Law Enforcement Division agents arrested a Summerville man for forgery, but it wasn't the usual money-making scheme that got him in trouble.
The man, 45-year-old Edward Brown, is accused of forging divorce papers.
According to the affidavit, Brown got a copy of his final divorce decree from his first wife, scanned it and then changed the name to reflect that of his second wife so that he could mail the fake divorce papers to his girlfriend.
According to SLED, the investigation was brought on at the request of the Dorchester County Family Court.
If found guilty, Brown could face up to three years in prison.
