LOS ANGELES (WCIV) - Amazon's president and CEO has an offerfor the company's warehouse workers: quit and get $5,000.
CEP Jeff Bezos explained the program, called Pay To Quit, ina letter to shareholders this week.
Bezos said the offer is made once a year to all of thecompany's warehouse workers. Each offer is included in a letter titled "Don't takethis offer."
Bezos said the offer is done to "to encourage folks totake a moment and think about what they really want. In the long run, anemployee staying somewhere they don't want to be isn't healthy for the employeeor the company."
According to reports, only a small percentage of employeestake the offer.
"We know that for some of our fulfillment centeremployees, Amazon will be a career," Bezos wrote. "For others, Amazonmight be a stepping stone on the way to a job somewhere else -- a job that mayrequire new skills. If the right training can make the difference, we want tohelp."
