CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police in Florida have found a 12-year-old girl missing since Monday, according to multiple news reports.

Earlier this week, the South Carolina Law Enforcement division issued an Amber Alert for Abigaile Lefevers.

Authorities have said she was traveling with Timothy Howard Newman, 38.

Citing FBI sources, news agencies reported Wednesday night Abigaile and Newman were found in a parking lot a block away from Interstate 95 in Miami. Newman now faces several charges including child abduction.

An Amber Alert issued in South Carolina was canceled.

Newman is a registered sex offender, and officials are investigating the case as a kidnapping.

Investigators with the Carteret County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina said Wednesday the pair might be headed to Florida. Earlier this week, investigators warned that Newman might be hiding in marinas in towns along the coast.

The state of Georgia had also issued an alert for Newman and the girl.

Investigators say Newman is familiar with the Atlantic coast because his father was a large boat captain.

Authorities also confirmed reports that Newman recently used his debit card to withdraw $100 from his account in Jacksonville, N.C., and that Abigale's grandmother lives across the street from Newman.

Officials said Abigaile's father recently confronted Newman regarding text messages he had been sending to the girl.
