Andrews police officer spots black bear in neighborhood

ANDREWS, S.C. (WCIV) -- An Andrews police officer spotted a black bear Friday afternoon in a neighborhood.

Officer Oliver Nesmith said he saw the bear cross South Rosemary Avenue around noon and roam through the neighborhood. It appeared to be injured, he said.

Nesmith said he called Animal Control, but by the time agents arrived the bear had wandered into a wooded area.

Last Sunday, there was a report of a bear in the Lumbertown area of Georgetown County, but officials are not sure if it's the same bear.
