Anonymous donor gives diamond ring to Salvation Army

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- You hear about it happening every year: someone drops something of great value into one of the Salvation Army's red kettles. Now, it's happened right here in the Lowcountry.

An anonymous donor has donated a diamond solitaire engagement ring worth between $3,000 and $4,000 to The Salvation Army asking that it to be used to help those in need within our community.

"Without those in our community who support us such as this generous lady - we could not have done what we have," said Captain Thomas Richmond. "Our promise to the community is "Doing the Most Good" and we plan on doing that with this ring."

The Salvation Army is hoping to have the ability to work with a local jeweler to get an assessment and get the most value out of this donation.
