NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Another North Charleston police officer has been fired.
An official with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) confirmed on Monday they are investigating a claim of "official misconduct."
Kathryn Richardson, SLED Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Information Coordinator, says the request for the investigation was submitted by North Charleston Police Chief Jon Zumalt on July 20th.
North Charleston Police Public Information Officer Spencer Pryor says at about 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18th "a citizen contacted the North Charleston Police Department to report an incident of misconduct by Officer Kenneth Ford." Pryor says Officer Ford was then terminated July 23.
This comes just three weeks after another North Charleston police officer, Sgt. Eddie Bullard, was terminated when police say he falsely reported that he had been shot. Charges from SLED are pending an investigation.
