Patriots Point: No plane coming Friday

      MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV/AP) - The USS Yorktown at the naval museum in Mount Pleasant is not adding a new plane to its collection of vintage aircraft, despite Associated Press reports that it was.

      The news agency reported that on Friday, a Douglas EA-3B Skywarrior is being added to the ship at the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum on Charleston Harbor.

      The Skywarrior was introduced in 1956 and is one of the largest aircraft designed to land on an aircraft carrier.

      The AP reported that the plane will arrive by barge and a crane will lift it onto the Yorktown deck. However, officials at Patriots Point say that the report is incorrect and they have no knowledge of a new plane being added to the museum's collection.

      The last plane added to the Yorktown was three years ago when an anti-submarine jet was lifted onto the deck of the World War II-era aircraft carrier.

      The Associated Press released a disregard notice late Tuesday morning saying the plane in question had been moved to the museum four years prior.{}

      Officials at Patriots Point said a computer error submitted the story again.
