      Apparently snobby means 1st place for Travel and Leisure lists

      CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Just days after they ranked Charleston as one of the Snobbiest Cities in America, Travel and Leisure has also ranked The Holy City the Number One City in the U.S. and Canada.

      Last year, Charleston was in fourth place.

      Worldwide, Charleston ranks seventh on the travel magazine's list. First place went to Bangkok, Thailand.

      Readers rated cities on sights, culture and arts, restaurants and food, people, shopping, and value.

      Holy City hotels also got a shout out. Market Pavilion Hotel is ranked first on the list of Top Small City Hotels in the Continental U.S. Wentworth Mansion earned third place, The French Quarter Inn placed fourth and Planters Inn slid into seventh.

      A total of eight hotels in South Carolina are recognized in the 2013 World's Best Awards readers' survey five in Charleston and three outside the city.
