      Armed robbery reported a block away from Pierpont Ave. shooting

      Devoun Bennett has been charged with Burglary in the 1st degree, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm

      CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- Charleston County Sheriff's Detectives have arrested a suspect in an armed robbery on Dogwood Road, just a block away from where a 5-year-old girl was shot in her home.The robbery occurred{} on October 22nd but the victim didn't report he was robbed until after he heard about what happened on Pierpont Ave. on the 25th.According to the victim, five armed suspects came to his home and after knocking on the door, forced their way in, made the victim lie on the ground and asked where the money was. Detectives arrested 17-year-old Devoun Bennett of Ashley Hall Plantation. Bennett was charged with Burglary in the 1st degree, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime.Bennett was identified in a photo line-up by the victim as one of the men who robbed his home. Bennet confessed to setting up the robbery and taking the other men to the home.A bond hearing was held on October 26th resulting in a $25,000.00 surety bond for Possession of a Weapon / Violent Crime, $75,000.00 on the Armed Robbery charge and no bond set on the Burglary charge.Police say that at this time there is no connection between this incident and the Pierpont Road shooting, or to the Catterton Road incident.
