Attorney: Father of child mauled by dog will turn himself over to authorities

RIDGEVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- According to attorney Andy Savage, charges will soon be filed against the father of Aiden McGrew.

The Dorchester County 2-month-old died after being attacked by a dog.

The charges are against Quintin McGrew, who was at the home reportedly sleeping at the time of the incident.

Savage, who is now representing the family in the case, says McGrew will turn himself over to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office Wednesday.

Savage says McGrew is facing a child neglect charge but has not yet seen the arrest warrant.

The incident happened Friday, April 20, at a home on Sandpit Drive in Ridgeville.

Dorchester County officials say Chantel McGrew came home to find that her 2-month-old son Aiden had been dismembered by a dog the family had been watching for a friend.

Aiden later died after being transported to Summerville Medical Center.

The coroner's office listed parental neglect among the factors in Aiden's death.
