BCSO: Domestic violence case turns into attempted murder charge
BERKELEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Berkeley County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the Planters Trace subdivision for reports of a shooting Sunday night.According to a release, deputies found a male victim in the Winnow Court home with a gunshot wound to his chest.The suspect, 36-year-old Shelly Anne Taylor is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.According to the incident report, the suspect told responding deputies the victim had "put his hands on me" but deputies did not report seeing any injuries or disheveled clothing. Deputies said she later told them the shooting was an accident but that she was "tired of him putting his hands on her."BCSO officials said they have been to the home for domestic violence calls three times before and each time, Taylor did not cooperate with deputies. They also said the last incident resulted in charges against the shooting victim, Trent Needler, and his case is still pending.Previous incident reports dating back to early 2012 say the suspect was choked on numerous occasions by Needler and had bruising on her arms.Taylor's bond was set at $55,000.
