BCSO: Man sprays clerk with pepper spray and takes cash register

CROSS, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Berkeley County Sheriff'sOffice is looking for a man they believe robbed the Cross Convenience Store on OldHighway 6 Tuesday morning.

A spokesman with the sheriff's office say just before 8 a.m., the suspect came into the store, went into the restroom and then approached the counter to buy gum. The clerk told deputies that when he opened the drawer, the suspect sprayed him in the face with pepper spray.

Deputies say the clerk slammed the cashdrawer shut and ran "toward a door away from the cash register to lock herself fromthe man" and called 911.

Deputies say the suspect made off with the entire cashregister with its contents and drove off in a grey or silver, four-doorsedan.

The BCSO has released a video showing the suspect and his car.
