HARBOR ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- State Health and Environmental Control officials put in place a swimming advisory for a small section of beach on Harbor Island.
"The affected area includes 200 feet above and below the beach access at Pelican Point," said David Payne of DHEC. "High bacteria levels have been detected in this section of beach, and swimming is not advised until bacteria levels return to normal."
Payne said it is safe to wade, collect sea shells and fish within the swimming advisory area.
