Beaufort deputies investigating Hilton Head shooting

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Deputies are trying to piece together the details of a shooting that happened late Saturday night on Hilton Head Island.{}

According to Beaufort County deputies, officers were sent to Pembroke Drive and Highway 278 after getting reports that shots had been fired. Witnesses told officers that they saw someone open fire from a white SUV at a gray Chrysler sedan as the two cars traveled down Highway 278.{}

Two hours later, officers were sent to a Dubois Lane home to investigate a care that had been hit by gunfire.{}

The victim said that her car had been hit by gunfire while parked at the home, but the investigation revealed that the shooting happened while the woman's daughter was driving the car on Highway 278.{}

The victim's daughter told deputies she had been asked by a friend for a ride from Hilton Head Gardens. Deputies say before the girl arrived, an argument between her friend and someone else resulted in the Chrysler sedan being fired upon.{}

Deputies say they do not have any suspects in the case. No one was injured, officials said.{}
