Beaufort deputies looking for failed robbery suspect

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Beaufort County deputies are looking for a young white man in connection to Wednesday's attempted robbery of a Bluffton convenience store, official said Thursday.{}

According to deputies, officers were called to the Circle K on Fording Island Road around 4:45 p.m. in reference to a white man who tried to rob the store. Officers met with the clerk who said the man ran away without taking anything.{}

The clerk said the suspect had been in the store earlier in the day and thought he may have been homeless because he said he did not have family and was asking for help. When he showed up in the afternoon, he had a bandanna covering his face, deputies said.{}

According to deputies, he demanded money, but the clerk said she had already deposited everything into the store's safe. The suspect did not appear armed, deputies said.{}

He was described as a young white man, around 20 years old, about 5-feet 9-inches tall with a slight build. He was wearing baggy blue jeans and a gray hoodie with blue sleeves.{}
