Beaufort home used in "The Big Chill" for sale
BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - The historic Beaufort home seen by movie audiences in the films "The Big Chill" and "The Great Santini" is for sale.
The Beaufort Gazette reports the 1853 home known as Tidalholm is on the market for $4.5 million. The home has 7,400 square feet and has seven bedrooms and seven full baths.
According to the listing with Sotheby's International Realty, the estate served as a guest house from the 1930s to the 1970s, entertaining artists, authors and statesmen but was converted back to private use in 1974.
Cynthia Jenkins is the daughter-in-law of owner Hilda Holstein. Jenkins says after 25 years with it's time for a new owner and time for the home to be filled again with children and dogs and cats.
The property also includes a small two bedroom guest cottage and private dock.
