Beaufort working on sea level rise plan
BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Workshops are being held on South Carolina's lower coast as Beaufort County develops a plan to deal with sea level rise.
The first workshop is Monday at the Bluffton branch library. A second is set for Tuesday at the St. Helena Branch library.
A news release from the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium says that during the workshops, participants will hear the latest science on sea level rise and learn which areas in the county are vulnerable. There will also be discussion on ways to deal with problem with an eye toward writing an action plan.
The workshops are sponsored by the Sea Grant Consortium, the Beaufort County Planning Department, the Social and Environmental Research Institute, North Carolina Sea Grant and the University of South Carolina.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press.
