GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- The weeks of heavy rains in the Lowcountry led to a sanitary sewer overflow at one pump station in Berkeley County.
According to the water and sanitation department, the station at Henry Brown Boulevard between Redbank Road and Liberty Hall Road in Goose Creek was impacted.
As a result, anyone in the area has been asked to avoid standing water as a safety precaution.
Crews are currently working to correct the problem and signs are being posted in the area to alert residents, officials said.
Department of Health and Environmental Control officials have been notified of the issue. The entire area will be disinfected and deodorized, officials said Friday afternoon.
