Berkeley deputies deliver on warning, start seizing poker machines

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) - After giving businesses in Berkeley County two weeks to get rid of video poker and other gambling machines, the sheriff's office started cracking down on Monday and seized eight machines.

Sheriff Wayne DeWitt put these establishments on notice on March 5.

"I'm giving a two week notice as of today to anyone in Berkeley County who has these machines, whether stand-alone machines or networked systems, to remove them from your premises or face the risk of criminal and civil prosecution," he said.

All but one of the businesses where illegal machines were found today were in the Goose Creek area.{}{}

The following places had machines seized:{}Crazy D's on Redbank Road, Thirsty Turtle on College Park Road, Bruce's Lounge on N. Goose Creek Boulevard, Steel Horse Saloon on Old Highway 52, Whistle Stop on Highway 52 and the Fast Break Lounge on North Main Street in{}Summerville.
