COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden is making several stops in South Carolina, an early voting state that will be key in the 2016 elections.

On Friday, Biden is delivering a commencement address at the University of South Carolina. Prior to that, the vice president is scheduled to headline a fundraising lunch in downtown Columbia for the South Carolina Democratic Party.

Biden has made frequent visits to South Carolina, which traditionally is the third state to weigh in on who should become the Democratic and Republican presidential nominees.

Biden spoke at the state party's annual dinner last May. He also attended a fish fry honoring longtime U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn and has vacationed in the state.

Biden has said he's considering a third presidential run in 2016.
