AWENDAW, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says the body of a black male was found along Goodwine Circle near Seewee Road in Awendaw around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Deputies say the man appeared to have been shot. Officials say a motive for the shooting is not known at this time.
"I just need help to me right now. He's not breathing," said an extremely upset caller to 911.
The call describes panic from a family member after the body of a man was discovered lying in a dirt road around 10:30pm Monday.
"My cousin is laying here. He's bleeding. He's not breathing," said the 911 caller.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office and the Charleston County Coroner's Office are investigating. The coroner identified the victim as 33-year-old Earl Campbell, of Awendaw.
ABC News 4 spoke to a woman at the scene of the shooting who says the victim is her nephew.
"The person who did this should be brought to justice," Lilliebell Swinton of Awendaw said. "You don't shoot someone three times and no one knows who did it. Someone knows who did it."
"We need everybody to pull together, need to clean this road up, these poor children don't stand a chance. This isn't the first time we lost young people on this road," Ms. Swinton said.
The Sheriff's Office says one suspect, identified as 19-year-old Manning Isiah Milligan, was arrested by CCSO deputies. He is charged with murder and possession of firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
"We just started canvassing the area. And that's when we developed leads, you know, in the investigation," explained Major Eric Watson of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. "At some point or another during the course of the night, they confronted each other and some kind of argument ensued between them both."
Investigators believe that argument led to Milligan shooting and killing Earl Campbell.
A bond hearing for Manning Isaiah Milligan is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Central Bond Hearing Court on Leeds Avenue in North Charleston.
