MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) - 18-year-old Dana Marie Woods, whose body was found Tuesday in the Francis Marion Forest, died from a gunshot wound according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
Salisbury would not say how many times Woods was shot. He did say there is "no indication" this was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Jennifer Hill, Woods' mother, confirmed to ABC News 4 Wednesday that her daughter's body was found in the Francis Marion Forest.
Berkeley County Sheriff's Office investigators reported Tuesday that the 2000 white Chevrolet that Dana and 22-year-old June Guerry were last seen in, was found burned in the Francis Marion Forest in the Cordsville area. The body of a female was found nearby, but was not identified at the time, according to Sheriff's Office officials.
Hill says the family was told Tuesday night that the body was Dana's. Hill says Dana loved June like a sister.
Dan Moon with BCSO says the search continues Wednesday for June Guerry.
ABC News 4 will have more on this story as it develops.
