Body of missing South Carolina swimmer recovered

      BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a man who disappeared while swimming in Beaufort County on Memorial Day.

      A spokesman for the state Department of Natural Resources says the body of 28-year-old Steven Wright Jr. was found late Wednesday morning in Wimbee Creek in northern Beaufort County. He was found about a mile from where he was last seen swimming on Monday.

      The death was 1 of 3 on waterways in the South Carolina Lowcountry over the holiday weekend.

      On Tuesday, authorities in Berkeley County recovered the bodies of 2 fishermen who disappeared in the Cooper River on Saturday.
