Bracket breakdown for Class 2A football playoffs

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Everythingin the 2013 high school football season now comes down to filling in blanklines on a bracket.

Last Friday night, teams inClass 1A, 2A, 3A and SCISA kicked off their playoff schedules while 4A schoolswill begin their playoff runs this week. Here is how the teams are paired inClass 2A for the second week.

Upper state Class 2A, Division1 games:

Cheraw had a bye in the firstround of the playoffs and will face ColumbiaFriday night. Columbia beat Indian Land18-5 last week. Columbiaended their season with a 4-7 record, while Cheraw ended at 6-4.

The Pelion Panthers (6-4) willface the 8-3 Crescent Tigers. The Panthers also had a bye last week whileCrescent beat Mid-Carolina 28-26 to advance.

Pendleton takes on Newberry,who beat Carolina Academy 36-14 last weekto advance into Friday night's game. Newberry came into playoffs at 8-3 whilePendleton was 6-4.

Fairfield Central started theirplayoff run with a bye and will face Keenan this week. Keenan beat Powdersville19-15 last week. Fairfieldis working on a perfect season at 10-0 and has only allowed an average of 9.7points per game. Keenan comes in at 7-4 and has allowed 239 points in their 11games.

Lower state Class 2A, Division1 games:

In the Lower state pairings,Wade Hampton beat battery Creek 57-20 to move into the second round againstDillon. Dillon comes in at 8-2 with their losses to Mallard Creek in Charlotte, N.C., and Marlboro County, the 3A team taking on Hanahanthis week. Wade Hampton has a 5-6 record, with five of their losses coming inthe last six weeks.

LakeMarion advanced to the second roundwith a bye and will face Waccamaw, who beat Edisto18-13 last week. Lake Marion comes in at 6-4while Waccamaw has a 5-6 record.

The Timberland Wolves will hostAynor (7-4) this week after having a bye for their first round. Aynor beat Marion 52-26 last week.

Loris had the bye last week andwill come off the week of rest to face Ridgeland-Hardeeville. The Jaguars (7-4)beat Lake City 14-12 last week. Loris comes intoplayoffs at 8-2.

Upper state Class 2A, Division2 games:

Chesnee takes on Abbeville inround two after Abbeville beat Saluda 21-0. Chesneehas only one loss this season to Chapman while Abbeville is sporting a 4-7record.

Chesterfield heads to Ninety Six this weekafter beating North Central 49-18. Ninety Six won all of their home games thisseason and Chesterfield seems to be comfortable on the road, only losing oneaway game to Cheraw on Nov. 2.

Batesburg-Leesville willwelcome Landrum to their field on Friday now that Landrum put away Eau Claire 45-18 last week.Batesburg comes in at 8-2, but their last loss came at Strom Thurmond in thethird week of the season. They've been perfect since then. Landrum comes in at6-5 and have lost three of their last five.

The 7-3 Central Eagles come offa bye round to face Andrew Jackson (5-6). Andrew Jackson beat Buford 36-20 lastweek to advance.

Lower state Class 2A, Division2 games:

After beating North Charleston 45-20 in the first round,Barnwell faces a rested Silver Bluff team this week. This is a rematch game forthe two teams. They last met on Nov. 1, and Silver Bluff won that game, 33-16.

Woodland (9-1) takes onKingstree, a team that lost five in a row before beating Mullins 50-34 in thefirst round last week. They have an uphill battle against a team that averages38 points a game.

Bishop England's 9-2season earned them a first-round bye. They will face Andrews at home this week.Andrews (7-4) beat Calhoun County last week, 42-14.

And in the last 2A Division 2game, Garrett Tech takes on Bamberg-Bhrhardt. Garrett won last week 14-6 over LeeCentral, sending them home and now faces the 5-5 Red Raiders. Garret came intoplayoffs with a 6-6 record, four of those losses coming in consecutive weeks toend the regular season.
