Bright to speak at Statehouse anti-abortion rally
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - U.S. Senate candidate Lee Bright will speak at a rally against abortion inside the South Carolina Statehouse.
Tuesday's rally by Voice of the Unborn is the day before the 41st anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court handing down its decision in Roe v. Wade, legalizing abortion.
Bright is a state senator from Spartanburg, who has sponsored a bill called the "Personhood Act of South Carolina" that would declare that a fertilized egg is a person under state law and has all the rights of a person under state law.
Bright is one of four Republicans planning to run against U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham on June's primary ballot. All four candidates say Graham isn't conservative enough for South Carolina.
Graham spoke at an anti-abortion rally at the Statehouse earlier this month.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
