Carolinas get snow in first winter blast

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Parts of central and northwestern South Carolina got a dusting of snow.

The National Weather Service reports snow fell late Tuesday across parts of the state.

Lancaster County's emergency management office reported about a half inch of snow around 9 p.m.

Snow was also reported in Chesterfield, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington and Richland counties.

The weather service office in Columbia said Tuesday night's snow was the third earliest snowfall ever in the fall in central South Carolina.
