CAS offering $17 St. Paddy's pet adoptions

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - If you're looking for a new pet, you're in luck -- Charleston Animal Society is offering discounted adoptions for all adult dogs and cats through St. Patrick's Day.{}

For the holiday, lucky owners will be able to take home a new pet for only $17.

All of the animals at Charleston Animal Society are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped.{}

As Charleston's largest animal rescue organization, Charleston Animal Society cares for 90 percent of Charleston County's unwanted, abused and abandoned animals. While it cares for more animals than other facilities, it has also driven down the euthanasia rate in the county.

In 2012, it spent over $500,000 treating animals, and saved nearly 75% of all the animals that came to the shelter.

Charleston Animal Society was recently selected Nonprofit of the Year at the annual "Giving Back Awards" gala sponsored by{}Charleston Magazine{}and the Coastal Community Foundation. It was also named a top-rated charity organization by Charity Navigator, the nation's largest charity watchdog organization.
