FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Investigators say they will likely never know what caused a massive fire at an old plastics plant in Florence County last month.
Deputies said arson investigators returned to the rubble of the old DuPont plant Wednesday, but the damage was too extensive and there was too much debris to move to figure out exactly what caused the Aug. 25 fire.
Authorities initially said the fire was likely suspicious because the plant did not have electricity or water service and no one had been inside for three days.
The plant near the Great Pee Dee River was being used as a warehouse.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
