NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- School district officials in Charleston County say Burns Elementary was briefly placed on lockdown Monday afternoon.
According to officials, shots were fired near the school, which prompted an administrative lockdown as a precaution.
The lockdown was lifted around 2:04 p.m., school district officials said.
North Charleston police officials said they responded to the report of shots fires on Woodlawn Avenue, but did not find a suspect or victim. One of the homes was hit by gunfire, however.
Several vehicles were seen leaving the area, police said.
