CCSO: Angry ex-girlfriend leads deputies on car chase, head-on collision
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A domestic dispute landed one Charleston woman in the hospital and in trouble with the law Sunday afternoon.According to an incident report from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, 19-year-old Deja Unquie Dickerson texted her ex-boyfriend to say she was on her way over to his home and she was "mad."Upon arriving to the Habitat Blvd. home, Dickerson reportedly broke the bedroom window and broke the front door off its frame to get inside but fled when she realized authorities were on their way.Deputies on patrol along Maybank Hwy saw Dickerson's burgundy Honda near River Road and tried to stop her. They said she turned into a Hess gas station to evade them, hitting a Toyota at the gas pump on her way out.Deputies said she continued south down Maybank, nearing speeds of 96 mph, weaving in and out of traffic. They said she lost control of her car in front of the St. Johns Fire Department and collided with an oncoming silver Volvo head-on.All parties, including Dickerson, were taken to the hospital by EMS.The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the head-on collision. We will update this story with charges when they are provided.The CCSO has charged Dickerson with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to stop for blue lights and burglary in the third degree.
