CCSO: Deputies pull weapon on PGA fan found tampering with leaderboard
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- While PGA fans made their way off the course because of bad weather, deputies say some men made their way to the leaderboard because of bad judgement.
According to the Charleston County Sheriff's office, deputies responded to the leaderboard near the 17th green Saturday evening because "approximately six male subjects who were tampering with the scoreboard while a crowd cheered them on."
According to Major Jim Brady with the CCSO, deputies "challenged" the men who then ran off, one of them straight towards the deputies.
"One of the deputies ordered the subjects to stop and the subjects continued running towards the deputy who drew his service weapon and ordered the subjects to the ground." said Brady in a release.
According to Brady, 43-year-old Christopher Crowley of West Chester, PA and 33-year-old Andrew Morgan Crowley of Charleston were detained, cited and released on disorderly conduct charges. Both subjects were escorted from the course.
