CCSO deputy involved in 5-car accident on Folly Road

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- A five car accident shut down at least one lane of Folly Road Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened around 5:00 p.m. in the area of Mariners Cay.

According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, five vehicles were involved including a Charleston County Sheriff's deputy. The road was reopened just before 7 p.m.

Preliminary{}information is that a deputy who was stopped in traffic{}leaving Folly Beach was rear-ended, causing the{}cruiser to then strike the vehicle in front of him and resulting a chain reaction accident.

Minor{}injuries were reported. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.{}
