CCSO: Drive by shooting suspects crash into daycare


WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- Three suspects are in custody after shots were fired and a traffic stop ended with a car crashed into a building.

According to Colleton County Sheriff's deputies, several gunshots were heard coming from the area of South Memorial St. on Thursday.

Deputies said they saw a burgundy Mazda 626 speeding away so they tried to stop it. The driver, however, refused to stop and ended up crashing into Betty's Tots Child Care Center on Rivers Street. .

One of the suspects in the vehicle ran off on foot but was later arrested. The incident happened around 6:45 p.m. and officials confirm no children were inside the daycare at the time.

Deputies said they found a handgun near the wreck and investigators found out the three suspects had opened fire on two people outside a home on Memorial Street.

Quinton Brown, Tyrone Choice, and an unnamed juvenile suspect were all arrested for several counts of Attempted Murder, Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.

No one was injured but there was property damage from the bullets and the crash.
