CCSO: Johns Island man charged with criminal sexual conduct
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office have arrested a John's Island man accused of fondling two girls.
According to an affidavit released in bond court on Friday, a social worker with the Department of Juvenile Justice in January called CCSO after one of the inmates told her that she and her sister were molested by the suspect, 44-year-old Dwayne Thompson.
The victim reportedly told the social worker that she and her sister would lay in bed with Thompson wearing long t-shirts and no underpants. According to the report, she said Thompson would fondle the girls while they watched horror movies.
She also said her parents may have known about the abuse but did not report it.
The report says the abuse allegedly happened between January and June of 2008 when one girl was between the ages of 11 and 12 and the other was about 9-years-old.
The affidavit expands those dates to between June 2007 and June 2009.
Thompson is charged with performing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14 and simple possession of marijuana.
Thompson's bond was set at $75,000.
